Clare Bakewell - an evening with the Bohemian Troubadour Harp

October 10, 2007
7:30 pmto10:30 pm

Clare Bakewell invites you to an evening with the Bohemian Troubadour Harp.

Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale on 10th October, 7:30pm

Clare will introduce the harp and illustrate it’s versatility with songs and tunes from around the world including the Middle East, South America, Central Europe and the Celtic Countries.

Clare has been performing a series of concerts around Cumbria on a replica of a 17th Century Bohemian instrument which was originally used by travelling musicians in Central Europe. Brought up in Cumbria, Clare studied the harp with the principal harp tutor from the Royal Northern College of Music before further study in Wales. She returned to Cumbria and has been performing and teaching here and abroad from her home near Ulverston for the last 15 years. A review of her recent concert at the Arnside Educational Institute commented that ‘Her accomplished playing and beautiful voice complimented each other perfectly and between songs she gave a knowledgeable insight into the history and practicalities of the instrument’.
